Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows Swatches and Review

Makeup Geek launched their new foiled eyeshadows on December 1st. However you could've signed up for the pre-order invite and could be the first to shop on November 27th, which is what I did. I ordered 4 out of the 10 colours available.

Showtime. Houndini, Grandstand and Caitlin Rose

First of all I must say that these eyeshadows are not foiled in the true sense. A foiled eyeshadow looks like melted metal on the lid. What these are, are some very nice metallic eyeshadows. They feel like cream/powder hybrid. They are buttery, smooth with a high shine. They are really some well done eyeshadows that don't have any fall out.

These eyeshadows in my opinion apply better with your finger than a brush but it's up to you. They go on like a cream so there aren't any particles to fall anywhere. They last for about 8 hours before they start to fade significantly.

L-R: Houndini, Caitlin Rose, Showtime, Grandstand
Swatched on bare skin, no primer

Houndini: a blackened teal with blue reflects. It's quite a pretty colour. Sadly this colour came broken and I thought pressing it back in the pan would've fixed it but when I placed it in my Z palette, the entire eyeshadow dropped out of the pan and smashed everywhere. However I contacted customer service at Makeup Geek and in less than two hours they responded and they are sending me a replacement shadow with no hassle whatsoever. That's the kind of customer service that I like.

Caitlin Rose: a perwinkle purple. This had the weakest pigmentation in the bunch but it's still a strong colour just not as strong as the rest. But it's really beautiful and all proceeds from this eyeshadow goes to a charity for persons with Batten's Disease.

Showtime: a bronzy brown with silver shimmer. This wasn't as shiny as the rest but the pigmentation on this is strong and it's so smooth and it blends out easily. An instant favourite.

Grandstand: a rose gold with a hint of brown. This colour is so damn beautiful. You see that swatch? That is one swipe! Now this is the closest one to a true foiled shadow. It's buttery, smooth, packs a punch and is long lasting.

Final thoughts: I like this product. I really do. I love whatever it is they made these eyeshadows out of. You can't find better metallic eyeshadows at this price point. Rating: 4.3/5

Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadows Swatches

On November 18th, Anastasia Beverly Hills launched their new 83 piece eyeshadow collection online. Everyone was hyped. So hyped that the site crashed in the first hour, lol. However I still managed to snag mine during that first hour due to lots of patience and not refreshing my browser. An eyeshadow retails for $12 each, 4 for $40, and 8 for $70 which also includes a free palette.

I just got my eyeshadows today so this isn't a full review. It's just going to be the swatches that would hopefully help some of you.

Bottom Row, L-R: Dusty Rose, Smoke, Burnt Orange Matte, Beauty Mark

L-R: Topaz (antique gold- shimmer), Pink Champagne (glittery silver pink - titanium), Truffle Glitter (greenish dark gold - titanium), Caramel ( warm midtone orange brown - matte), Dusty Rose (deep mauve brown - velvet), Smoke (blackened brown-matte), Burnt Orange Matte (midtone orange - matte), Beauty Mark (plummy brown - matte).

Urban Decay Electric Palette

I had absolutely no intentionof buying this palette when it was launched. I was like " Nope! Don't need it."  I resisted it quite well until a strange thing happened. Makeup ForEver launched its 30 year anniversary palette and it had some brights in it that were so pretty and I was like " I want that." But any one living in a country that does not sell MUFE knows that it is a notoriously hard brand to get online. So I was like, you know what, Imma get the Electric palette instead.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette

Amrezy Palette in the box

Amrezy Palette

When I first saw the Amrezy Palette on Instagram it was love at first sight. It looked like how I would design my perfect palette to look. Gorgeous shimmers and mattes with five of each with two pops of colour. As soon as it became available on Anastasia's website I ordered it and after that it was such an ordeal. The site says that it takes 3 business days to process but it took them a whole 2 weeks to do mine and that was after I emailed customer service, tweeted and finally complained on facebook. And then USPS like they lost it somewhere between L.A. and Miami for a whole ten days and being a regular online shopper I know it only takes 3 days to get from L.A. to Miami and then it took extra long to get here to Barbados so I only got it yesterday. Sigh. I really wanted it earlier so that you guys would have the option to order it from Anastasia if you wanted it but it was limited edition so it no longer carries it but it seems to be still available at Ulta but they don't ship internationally.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar

The Box

The Palette

When I first started seeing the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette my reaction to it was the same as my reaction to the LORAC Pro. Oh great another neutral palette, like we haven't seen those before. But just like the LORAC Pro it started to grow on and suddenly I just had to have it.  I think the reason why  it grew on me was because it was a warm toned palette but not overly so and the Candied Violet and Salted Caramel shades had caught my eye for some reason. Plus I heard that it smelled like chocolate which is always a good thing in my book.

Butter London Nail polish in Molly Coddled

Molly Coddled

So for the past couple of years I've heard people raving about Butter London polishes. They are a bit on the pricey side so I never felt the need to indulge in them. However I was looking at them a time and I liked the colour selection so I decided to order one to try them out. Now I love any lilac, pastel colour so Molly Coddled looked right up my alley.

The bottle is smaller than you expect in pictures but it's so sleek and elegant looking that I just love how it looks. What I don't like is the actual cap. You have to pull off the black cap you see and then there's a smaller cap underneath that the brush is actually attached to. I find this cap not be that comfortable to grip and the brush is okay. But the nail polish, oh lawd, it went on so lumpy. I had to shake the polish everytime I dipped my brush in. I never had to do this with any of the other brands that I own including, OPI, Wet n Wild, Orly, MAC and so on. It dries soft so you have to be careful not to smudge it if you're holding something. The staying power is abysmal. By day two the nails wanted redoing. The polish also did not look good with a top coat on it. It started to wave up and look weird. Safe to say I will not be repurchasing nail polish from this brand again. Rating: 1.5/5.
