Valentine's Day Series: 'Let's Fall in Love' Look

Her palms were sweaty as she gripped the iPad in her hands but she wasn't paying any attention to it. She was watching him. He was playing basketball with his friends and he had invited her to come and watch. Her eyes followed his every move, admiring how his muscles flexed at every turn and move. They had been dating for a couple of months now and each day her desire to be around him grew a little bit stronger. Now the game seemed to over  and he jogged towards her. His sweat glistened on his skin as his shirt hung to his frame exposing the outline of his quite defined torso. She felt her cheeks warming up as he came towards her. Her eye momentarily avoiding his gaze so that he wouldn't see the effect that he had on her. He gazed at her for a little while before his tongue found the words that he wanted to say. He spoke a bit quickly, he was a bit nervous perhaps. She smiled and nodded in agreement. From a short distance, his friends smiled knowingly at each other. Yup, he was a goner and so was she.

In nearly every Hollywood movie or tv show that I've watched, when the star crossed couple realised that they were falling in love, I've noticed that the makeup palette is always the same. The actress' eyes are wide and bright framed with long lashes. The eyeshadows are usually soft browns and light peaches and pinks. The cheeks are a natural rosy flush and the lips are an inviting natural hue.

So I've decided to do my take on that look today by kicking it up a couple of notches, where it is still very wearable but a tiny bit more dramatic.

What I Used

MAC Paintpot in Coral Crepe (pinky coral)
MAC Expensive Pink (warm pink with gold shimmer)
MAC Paradisco (warm coral)
Makeupgeek  Cocoa Bear (matte red brown)
Sleek Vanilla (Storm palette)
Peach blush from Victoria's Secret Mega Makeup Kit
Milani Minerals Blush in Luminous (shimmery peach with gold)
MAC Offshoot lipstick (mauve)
NYX Chestnut lipliner
Maybelline XXL Pro Volume Mascara
L'Oreal Voluminous mascara

Instructions

Apply Coral Crepe all over the eyelid as a base. Pat Expensive Pink on the inner half of the eyelid and Paradisco on the outer half. Blend where the two eyeshadows meet.

Apply Cocoa Bear all over the crease and blend out with MAC 217 brush. Apply Vanilla as the highlight and blend it into the crease with the same 217 brush.

Apply a thin black line to the top lashline.

Use the primer from XXL to coat the top and bottom lashes and then apply Voluminous on top.

Apply the peach blush to the cheeks  and lightly dust Luminous right above it for a soft glow.

Line lips with Chestnut and then fill the lips with Offshoot.

  1. I love this look and your brows! So jelly, i wish I could get mine to grow nicely to get this shape. But it is true, it's always that doe-eyed effect.

    1. lol, I must confess that my brows have less to do with nature and more to do with the fact that I shave off the ends and then draw them back on to get the shape that I want. I'm a firm believer in fake it until you make it, honey! (well when it comes to makeup anyways)lol
